Recruiting Youth Writers

At Rising Sun Food Drive Foundation (RSFD), we work to combat poverty and strive for all people to live in a world free from hunger and poverty. RSFD is offering a remote internship to youth who enjoy writing and taking part in writing a blog.

RSFD is looking to recruit 12 youth from the ages of 14-18 years old, to gain valuable skills and engage in a collaborative environment with other aspiring young writers. Selected candidates are expected to commit 5 hours per blog post on subjects that align with RSFD’s message regarding poverty and the hunger crisis, from June 30 to August 30 and report to the Marketing and Media Administrator.

 

We will be accepting applications until June 30, 2021.  Submit your cover letter, first two pages from your most recent report card, and 2 to 3 samples of writing pieces (essays, blog posts, reports, etc (500 word max)

Skills and Responsibility 

  • Communication - verbally articulate research, thoughts and ideas on a particular subject matter, write clearly and concisely

  • Creative - Create a draft on your assigned topic and expand it into a blog post 

  • Collaboration - Collaborate with other selected candidates to compile various topics

  • Organization - Manage your time to commit 5 hours per blog post

 

Eligibility

  • Youth who are 14-18 years of age

  • Youth who identify as BIPOC (black, indigenous, people of colour), preferred

  • Youth who are familiar with and have interest in subjects of poverty and the hunger crisis

  • Youth who are able to commit 5 hours per blog post from June 30 to August 14
